Towards a Sustainable Future: The Development of Bharatpur City’s Drainage Master Plan.

The Municipal Corporation of Bharatpur District is taking proactive steps to develop a master drainage plan for Bharatpur City.

The Department of Municipal Corporation entered into a contract with GA Infra Pvt. Ltd. to carry out the work of the master plan for the ultimate disposal of storm water. The Project was inaugurated by Honorable Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan State.
The Municipal Corporation of Bharatpur is enhancing the drainage facility for storm water in the city. The existing drainage system of the complete Bharatpur town discharge storm water into major drains such as Main drain, CFCD, RNFCD, Ram Nagar Do Mora, Giriraj Canal and Heeradas Channel. In the proposed version of this contract, Bharatpur city is divided in 6 planning zone in Phase-1 and Phase-II viz. North-East, North-West, South-east, South-West and Old city area within circular road and peripheral control belt.
Since Bharatpur is in a “Flood-prone” district, proper storm water drainage is required throughout the city. The Project is going to benefit approximately 3,33,368 people in future.
In 2011, the town population was 2, 523, 42, the growth rate estimated per decade is 16% hence by 2050 the population will be 4, 15,756 (as per census 2011).
We applaud the municipal corporation and the Director of Local Bodies for taking this critical step towards achieving a cost-effective, dependable, and safe drainage system for future use
– Project Manager-Bharatpur.
The newly designed and constructed drainage system is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
